Oh, Valentine’s Day. Some people love you. Some hate you. I generally find myself in the latter group 😛 I’m a happily married lady, but Valentine’s Day has never been one of my favorites. However, now that I have two little girls who really enjoy passing out Valentine’s and celebrating with their friends, I might be coming around.
Of course, boys as adorable as this help, too. Multiples have a special place in my heart and these three were no exception.
Brothers ::puffy hearts:: These boys each were sweet and funny in their own ways. We took this at my home-studio space (slash guest room, working with what we have!) we got a couple shots off and took some breaks. We talked about where my basement was (“Under the house!”) and took peeks the playground out back (theirs is bigger, haha) and watched a few minutes of Jack’s Big Music Show to help us settle in again. Our mini was one of a kind, just like J, B, and Z.
Thank you, Jamie for coming out! It was a pleasure meeting you and your special crew ❤
I knew what I wanted for my little Valentine’s Mini sessions and I set off to Etsy to find it. Aaaaand then I was slapped in the face with price tags of $50+. I’m a budget photographer- not only in that I keep my prices affordable but also I have to watch my bottom line! I decided to give crafting my own heart garlands. I *totally* understand why the Etsy ones are expensive because HOLY CRAP were these time consuming and as any small business owner knows, time is money. So, I spent a few days (seriously) cutting out a little over 100 card stock paper hearts of various sizes and colors. Then, ugh. Sewing. I have a sewing machine because I forgot how much I suck at sewing Shockingly, sewing paper is waaaaaaaay easier than sewing fabric.
Here’s a little peek into how I spent my time 😀
(yes, that would be my darling husband’s hand threading the machine for me)
Leanne and the boys = best time ever. I’ve photographed Leanne, Dan and their kids a couple times now and each time it’s been a freaking riot. And so full of awesome professionalism….
wendy + leanne = ❤ haha
This year, my fall mini location was ripped out (literally) after the first week of sessions but I knew I wanted to take Leanne down to a new place for a change of scenery. I know I talk about how much I love getting to hang with my clients (friends?) but for serious. People like Leanne and Dan make it so easy. For instance, I was walking everyone back through the woods, off the beaten path. There were a couple other people a few yards ahead of us and Dan says loudly to me, “Hey Wendy, what are the ropes and tape in your bag for?” Such a charmer! :*)
Look how precious those boys are! Man… love it. Also, sure could go for some sweater-weather… wearing 14 layers is old already. How many days until next fall?
Julie contacted me a while back about a snowy winter maternity session. She’s expecting her second baby boy soon, and decided to go ahead with a Baby Bundle session which includes maternity photos and newborns We booked for late December at a local park since we live in Ohio and duh, it snows here! Except…. it didn’t. At all. It was *freezing* when Julie came down for her session but there was no snow. Luckily, she is gestating a human being and called herself an oven :*) Julie and her husband have a 19 month old, who we had wanted to be involved in the session. Unfortunately, in the freezing cold, that wasn’t really much of an option. We took what we could, given the less than ideal situation and they came out beautifully but I had this gut feeling that a lifestyle session at their home would be more fitting. I drove up to their home a few days later and little C was all smiles and giggles and silliness. He was all movement, too so Julie popped on some “Wiggles” and C stopped playing for about 14 seconds :*) The perfect toddler!
I cannot wait to meet new Baby Brother (not sharing his name!) He has such a loving home to come to. Homemade seems to be a running theme (as well as a really perfect nautical feel) for Baby’s room. Jeff made this amazing shelf:
Julie’s mother made many of the details in the nursery. She made a quilt, a pad for their changing station, and pillows for Julie’s awesome grey rocker. Julie hand painted the canvases over the dresser.
The other thing I have to mention, is Julie’s laughter. Julie has the *best* laugh. She has one of those laughs that you can’t help but laugh along with.
I cannot wait to go back up for her newborn session in a few weeks!! So many thanks to Julie, Jeff, Erica and little C for such a fun session!
#Iheartfaces AKA I Heart Faces is having their “Best Face of 2014” challenge. I love to enter these! I even won a Top Ten Honor in their B&W Challenge with a photo I took of my daughter, L! My photos have been chosen for “inspiring newborn photography” as well as “inspiring maternity photos” and “Inspiring Grandparent photos” which is so freaking awesome, it still makes me tear up a bit! Lord knows I love a sweet #newborn session and a gentle #maternity session but it’s nice to see others like them, too 🙂
For this challenge, I thought I might use this photo of my other daughter M, blowing dandelions. I love the movement, her cheeks puffed out, the seedlings floating along and the sun through the trees. She was just having a little fun on a walk through our neighborhood and I love it.
Forgive this posting twice to your feed! I wanted to make sure I got this on my blog too! hashtag-clogginyournewsfeed
