Mommy and Me mini sessions are now open and booking! They will be held April 14th, 2018 and will be best for five or fewer participants. We moms are so often the ones behind the camera, or holding our cell phones at arm’s length, and our kids deserve better than that. You are worth $100– honestly, you’re worth a million bucks. Treat yourself, or if you know a mom who maybe hasn’t had photos taken with her children, why not gift her a session?
It’s Mother’s Day this weekend here in the States, and this week I’ll be sharing some of my favorite #momsinthepicture over on my Facebook page. I was inspired to do so, with help from the good people at Pretty Presets who’ve written up some helpful blog posts to help you get in the picture.
You are worth so much more, than a shaky selfie shot. We get so caught up in how we look; is our “mom muffin” showing? Is our grey hair visible? Can you see the bags under our eyes? These worries make us shy away from being in photos. What message are we giving our kids, when we dog on ourselves over how we look in photos?
Photos immortalize us. They are tangible evidence that WE LIVED. Exist in photos, make sure your children, your children’s children and so on know YOU LIVED.
Check out the helpful bog posts from Pretty Presets Blog HERE! And while you’re at it, why not book a family session for yourself? I’ve got some gorgeous nights available in June AND July that would be perfect for families! Email me, firstname.lastname@example.org for information or to book your session!
I have a week in June and a couple evenings in July that I would *love* to fill with some milestone sessions! If your little one is hitting a milestone, be it 6,8, or 12 months, two years, three or four years, email me! I have an aqua ruffle outfit that miss Top Right (Ellie) let me have that would be so adorable on a girl, 8-12m old 😉
If that isn’t a catchy title, I don’t know what is.
It has been an absolute whirlwind fall. Every year I tell myself I’m not going to take on so much- I’ll spend more time with my family. I’ll actually hire someone else to take photos of us because I won’t be working every minute!
And then this year I took something like 12 more fall sessions than I did last year :*) I took 4-5 mini sessions every weekend and then also took my usual work load during the week. It was nuts and I’m pretty sure my eyes are going to fall out of my face. I’m taking only 2 sessions in December, not just to give my retinas a rest, but also because with the holiday season comes winter break for my daughters and you guys know I’m a mom first.
I wanted to share some of the families I had this year, and since my blogging is pretty much the worst ever, I’m going to pop them into a couple giant posts! We’ve had our first snow here, and looking back at the colors of fall is so nice 😀
It’s hard to believe I’m going to be pre-booking fall family mini sessions for my current client list in just about seven weeks! Looking back at these fall photos makes me so excited for what’s to come!
Jenny, Chris, Grey and Wally are four favs. I was lucky enough to photograph them a couple times over the year and it’s always a treat. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of their hugs, their little smiles, or their family cuddles!
Oh, Wally :*) I love working with kids- you never *ever* know what you’re going to get! Grey was all smiles and giggles and little boy energy, and Wally was…two. Haha! As with all my toddlers, a touch of shyness, and even grouchy faces are expected and totally normal. I photograph my families as they are, and sometimes that includes our furrowed (and super precious) brows.
I book family sessions through out the year; and am currently booking for September! If you’d like to squeeze the last drops of summer into a family session, check out the details of what’s included on http://www.wboycephotos.com and then send me an email! email@example.com
If you’re a current client in good standing, keep your eyes out for my fall family mini session dates. I’ll be emailing them out in early August!
I wrapped up my nephew’s birthday and dove face first into my incredibly packed fall family schedule.
I was lucky enough to shoot baby Alison when she was newborn, and getting to see her as a toddler was such a treat.
Her big brothers are so much fun. They’re the perfect combination of silly and sweet.
We played in the leaves a bit, snapped a couple of the three together (the smooching happened all on its own!)
grabbed some fast family photos and that was that! I could have shot all day though; Cassy, Jason, Owen, Carter, and Alison were total models.
Mini sessions go *fast*. Even though I time mini sessions out to no more than 30 minutes, my clients can still expect anywhere from 30-40 images for a family of five in their private online galleries 😀 I’m booking sessions for June and July NOW. Summer is such a great time for photos. I prefer summer to fall for my own family photos (GASP!) The sunlight is so warm, the days are filled with fun. There’s no pressure to hurry up and get the photos done so you have them in time for your holiday cards– shoot in the summer and you’ll have your images WELL in advance for those cards!

Oh precious Morgan. I have loved seeing this little love muffin grow over the past year!
When I met Nichole, Tom, Lauren, Kyle, and baby Morgan. They could *not* have been more wonderful and welcoming and loving. Their session was full of laughter and silliness, “Hey! I don’t have diarrhea!” :*)
Late last summer, Morgan was a bright eyed, squishy-cheeked 3 month old:
She loved her big sister but was a little unsure about the silly “motor boat” sounds Lauren made.
I was so touched when Nichole told me she wanted to continue photographing Morgan throughout her first year!
At six months, Morgan was all big eyes, and shy smiles in my home studio:No one wore that little pom pom hat quite as well as Morgan! She loved her toes, loved snuggling with the teddy, and was so clearly a little princess.
At nine months more of Morgan’s silly disposition shone. She was teething, and everything went into her mouth! Nichole brought along Morgan’s Belle baby and Morgan just gnawed on it. She had her fingers in her mouth and her tongue was just going crazy. It was so cute. Morgan had enough hair to pop it up in to her little whale-spout pony which I found out is a signature look! She made the perfect little backdrop model, if I do say so 😉
And then, before I knew it, Morgan was back in my home studio turning one. A whole year old ❤ Morgan was chatty, and smiling, and standing, and just a dream. The weather was really nice, and since we were at my home, I told Nichole I’d really like to take some photos of Morgan out in the yard. Nichole was totally willing to head out, plus it meant we got to use a couple more outfits (you should see the adorable outfits she would bring over for our sessions! It was hard often times to choose which to wear!). Nichole brought along a quilt that was hers when she was a baby and I’m so glad we were able to use it. Morgan kept putting her head down and snuggling with it. I would say to her, “Night night, Morgan!” and she would pop herself right back up! There’s no napping when you’re a big girl!
Morgan still plays with her tongue, but now you can see the tooth nubbins coming up. She still holds her hands to her mouth, as babies are wont to do ❤ She still has the cutest cheeks and the biggest blue eyes but you can see a bit of that baby face maturing. It has been my absolute pleasure not only getting to work with Nichole, but getting the chance to now call her my friend. Nichole has generously offered me use of an antique child’s sled for sessions, and the use of her gorgeous property! How awesome is that? I can’t thank you enough, Nichole for everything you’ve given me this year. I look forward to every session, and can’t wait to take your family photos again late this summer.
*If you want to capture all the sweet little milestone moments for your baby, please get in touch. There is nothing more joyous for me, than to hold time still in a photograph. I can be reached by email at email@example.com *
I am so excited to have great weather for working outside in again! Spring! It’s warm again, the trees are greening up, we have grass! All wonderful things when you’re a natural light photographer. It wasn’t entirely “springlike” for Mandy’s mini session, but I’ll tell you what- her family crushed it. They looked great in their blues and greys -one of my all time favorite color combos.
There were some laughs when Mandy’s oldest son Paul IV went toddler-zombie on his daddy :*) I love the shot of him noming on Daddy’s head. And the cheeks on baby J- good gravy. SO CUTE. When we got to the park, there were quite a few people fishing off the large dock which totally figures because I knew I wanted to work on the dock! Luckily, after a short while they cleared out and we were able to get a couple cute shots. IV was excited and telling me about all the delicious things he wanted to get at Chic Fil A– Chocolate milk and three french fries! Cutie booty. Mandy and crew were so easy to work with- I know I say it often, but my clients are so great and I’m so glad to call so many of you friends. Thank you a bunch, Mandy for choosing to work with me ❤ Your boys are super sweeties!
If you would like to schedule your own family session, feel free to send me an email- firstname.lastname@example.org
remember if you refer a friend you’ll both get extra goodies 🙂
You’re going to see a lot of this little bubba! This is my nephew Colin. I just realized I never posted his newborn session, so keep an eye out for that on an upcoming #TBT. I went out to my sister’s house in Erie, PA for the first part of our session. I got our little set-up put together and Miss Georgia Bo came to make sure her brother would be safe:
One the set was deemed safe, I put Colin in! At six months, most babies aren’t sitting independently very well yet, so I like to use a little basket to hold the baby (with mom or dad supporting the back side of the basket). I took one of my favorite photos to date of Baby Boy:
Gah, so stinking cute. I really wanted to get a few different things, so while my family was here over Easter, I snapped away.
Colin had just gotten some lunch 😀 We headed into the studio (which doubles as my guest room, use whatcha got!)
Colin loves being naked, putting things in his mouth, and his feet!
::nom:: I have this in one of his little photo collections, but I think it deserves its own spot!
He’s getting so big so fast. Milestone mini sessions are only $100 here in my home studio, and it’s so easy to fit them in. Babies grow and change so fast, and sure we can take 220,000 cell phone photos but milestone minis are keepsakes that you can print and display for years.
Give me an email and let’s get your milestone on the books! email@example.com
Maddie and her family are just ❤ love. I’ve been photographing them for almost two years now and I tell ya, I look forward to every minute with them. We started off in my home studio space and got some really sweet shots…
And then MaddieCakes remembered she was two years old and she was o.v.e.r i.t. No biggie! We rescheduled and I headed down to Jackie and Greg’s home (yes, I absolutely will come to you!). At first, Maddie wasn’t so sure this was a good idea. She seemed hip to this game.
But we took her outside and she cheered up on her own turf:
I knew Maddie was a big Sophia the First fan, so I asked Jackie and Greg if we could put her in her Sophia dress. And it was magic. She read us stories, played with stickers…
And then the violence broke out and it was mayhem. Ok, not really. Jackie bonked Greg on the head a few (hundred) times with a book aaaaand MaddieCakes lost her mind:
Maddie was laughing so hard, she was snorting. It was great 😀
The 15m-28m age can be difficult. A toddlers favorite word is often times, “NO!” or in Mad’s case, “NO WAY!” but with a little patience and creativity from all of us grown ups, some really great times and photographs can be had.
As always, thank you to Jackie and Greg for all the love!
