This is the week of throw-backs! Today’s feature is baby Elise ❤ Elise was born in March, so I headed down to her family for her in-home newborn session. Shooting in my client’s home is always the easiest for them- no packing up anything, no worries if baby has a diaper explosion or a little reflux. We also get to relax, and spend time in a place where everyone is most comfortable.
and… I get to meet the family pets ❤ Olive and Henry made this shoot so special. Olive had to make sure the basket was safe for her new human!
All those small details… you forget sometimes how tiny their ear was, or how they puckered their little lips, the curve of a chubby cheek ❤ You forget how their skin was so new, and soft… You never forget the work it took to grow them, but sometimes you forget those itty bitty details.
I get to see Elise in just a few weeks for her six month milestone session and I cannot wait to see how much she’s changed! I’m booking November and early 2018 newborns and milestone sessions 😀 If you know someone expecting, send them my way; when they book their session you’ll both earn some fun freebies!
Dexter, it’s been a joy to Watch You Grow over the year. You are the sweetest little pumpkin. Your sparkling smile cannot be beat and your precious pout could melt even the iciest of hearts. Your cheeks are divine and I’m so glad I got to hug on you so much.
I could photograph Dex, Maria, and even Bryce (haha) every day and be 100% happy. I want to extend my Watch Me Grow package just so I can keep seeing my little buddies! I can’t stress the value of the Watch Me Grow package enough- the first year goes by so quickly. Before you know it, your baby is four months old and you’re hoping to find someone with immediate availability to get those first real smiles! When you book Watch Me Grow session, you get newborn photos, 4m, 8m, and a 12m cake smash session all booked at once and paid throughout the year at a considerable savings versus booking it all out individually. I’m booking September and later due dates 😉 Don’t miss out!
It’s Mother’s Day this weekend here in the States, and this week I’ll be sharing some of my favorite #momsinthepicture over on my Facebook page. I was inspired to do so, with help from the good people at Pretty Presets who’ve written up some helpful blog posts to help you get in the picture.
You are worth so much more, than a shaky selfie shot. We get so caught up in how we look; is our “mom muffin” showing? Is our grey hair visible? Can you see the bags under our eyes? These worries make us shy away from being in photos. What message are we giving our kids, when we dog on ourselves over how we look in photos?
Photos immortalize us. They are tangible evidence that WE LIVED. Exist in photos, make sure your children, your children’s children and so on know YOU LIVED.
Check out the helpful bog posts from Pretty Presets Blog HERE! And while you’re at it, why not book a family session for yourself? I’ve got some gorgeous nights available in June AND July that would be perfect for families! Email me, firstname.lastname@example.org for information or to book your session!
Detail collages get me in all the feels. I love seeing those newborn lips, and those mushy cheeks, and the little noses, and those itty bitty ear folds.
When I can, I like to create a little birth announcement for my newborn clients. Even if you don’t purchase 150 and mail them, it’s always nice to have one for yourself. When my daughters were a few months old, maybe even a year old, I finally made a couple for myself and printed a 5×7 of each, then framed those 5x7s in an 8×10 matted frame. Just a suggestion… 😉
No one can resist a nibble on newborn toes. Maddie is no different. I love Mason’s face, looking up to Daddy like, “HAAAAALLLPPP!!!!” Seriously, it’s not like anyone could resist taking a smooch or maybe… nibble.
If you’re expecting in June or July of 2017, email me today email@example.com to set up your newborn session!
Q- I’m pregnant! When should I schedule my maternity and/or newborn session with wendy b photos?
A- This is a two-parter 🙂 Any session is booked by emailing me; firstname.lastname@example.org. We will settle on a date and location, and I’ll send you a contract and invoice 🙂
You’ll want to schedule your maternity session ASAP keeping in mind that I book at least six weeks in advance. Maternity photos are best shot after week 32 but before week 38- you’ll be showing pretty well but not yet so huge that the “I’m so done” mantra has been chanted. You are welcome to book your maternity session as soon as you hit your second trimester, but know that we won’t be shooting until you hit 32w.
Newborn photos *MUST* be shot within the first 14 days or so after birth. Since a good lot of us have no idea when our babies will be born, you will want to schedule your newborn session by the time you are 34w. I put you on my calendar for your due date, then I leave dates open the week before and two weeks after for your session. It is of the utmost importance that you let me know as soon as the baby is born, so we can nail down your exact session date. Doing so can help ensure that the whole family can be available to participate, if you’d like. On-site newborn photos often include siblings and both parents so keep that in mind 🙂
If your baby is born prematurely and requires NICU time, we would resume your full session when you’re all home together.
If you want book maternity photos as well as newborn photos, I offer a Baby Bundle package. The package saves you some money and gets you *14* photos included with your session fee. I strongly recommend the Baby Bundle package. You get more shoot time, more photos, more bang for your buck!
I also offer a Fresh 48 add on to any newborn session, for just $100. It includes 30 minutes of hospital shoot time and *all* the best images for direct download. Total number of images will vary.
**I have been recognized nationally by the photography group I Heart Faces and had my work used as inspirational photos in both the newborn and maternity galleries!**
Sweet little Aubrey. Aubrey was born just days before I had to leave for a weekend trip, but as soon as I got back I headed down to Cuyahoga Falls to meet this sweet little love. Aubrey’s aunties Patti and Jen gifted Momma Sarah a gift certificate for a newborn session! Isn’t that so sweet? I had worked with Sarah and her family previously (as well as Patti and Jen) and I was so happy to reconnect. Aubrey was another baby who was wiiiiide awake! There were lots of cuddles and geeeennnntttlyyy and slooooowllllyyy putting her into positions.
We headed up to her *gorgeous* lavender and grey room for a couple more photos…
and called it a good day!
Have you ever given a photography gift certificate? You can! You could give someone a gift of photos if you know they haven’t had any taken in years (or if they keep getting those repetitive Big Box store pictures). A gift card is great for someone expecting a new baby, a child’s 1st birthday, a newborn, anything you’d like.
If you would like to give someone you love the gift of professional, personal photography send me an email. I would *love* to work with you (and them)!
It’s been a bit of a baby blow out around here! Remember Julie and her maternity session? Well, shortly after Little Baby E decided it was time to make his grand entrance. He was a tiny bit early, but just fine! And crazy adorable to boot. Julie and Jeff kept his name under wraps until he was born, so let me introduce to you (if you’ve not been lucky enough to meet him already) Emmett Samuel ❤
I love love LOVE newborn sessions and Emmett was so easy to work with! He was eight days old which was *perfect* He was wide eyed and awake for the first part of our session and I was telling Julie what a nice change it was to have such an alert baby! I love me some sleepy newborns but it’s also so cool to see them trying to take it all in.
I was really glad to get that family of four shot- it took some sneakiness to get big brother Carson to smile and laugh for me; thank you Jeff and Erica for playing catch with Carson’s lovey! We did get Emmett to crash out eventually
Good gravy, I just love these. If I hadn’t had to pick up my own kids from school, I would have stayed up at Jeff and Julie’s house all.day.long :*) I love how we were able to mix some lifestyle photos with some posed baby photos and they all look so incredible (if I do say so myself, thank you very much). I can’t say enough good things- I usually include about 100- 125 newborn photos in a gallery. There were over 200 in Emmett’s because I COULD NOT STOP. I mean, he even did tummy time for me!
I can’t thank Julie and Jeff enough for allowing me into their home again to spend such a wonderful morning with their newest little fella. It was an absolute pleasure. TTFN, ta ta for now sweet little Emmett! I hope I get to see more of your family!
Julie contacted me a while back about a snowy winter maternity session. She’s expecting her second baby boy soon, and decided to go ahead with a Baby Bundle session which includes maternity photos and newborns We booked for late December at a local park since we live in Ohio and duh, it snows here! Except…. it didn’t. At all. It was *freezing* when Julie came down for her session but there was no snow. Luckily, she is gestating a human being and called herself an oven :*) Julie and her husband have a 19 month old, who we had wanted to be involved in the session. Unfortunately, in the freezing cold, that wasn’t really much of an option. We took what we could, given the less than ideal situation and they came out beautifully but I had this gut feeling that a lifestyle session at their home would be more fitting. I drove up to their home a few days later and little C was all smiles and giggles and silliness. He was all movement, too so Julie popped on some “Wiggles” and C stopped playing for about 14 seconds :*) The perfect toddler!
I cannot wait to meet new Baby Brother (not sharing his name!) He has such a loving home to come to. Homemade seems to be a running theme (as well as a really perfect nautical feel) for Baby’s room. Jeff made this amazing shelf:
Julie’s mother made many of the details in the nursery. She made a quilt, a pad for their changing station, and pillows for Julie’s awesome grey rocker. Julie hand painted the canvases over the dresser.
The other thing I have to mention, is Julie’s laughter. Julie has the *best* laugh. She has one of those laughs that you can’t help but laugh along with.
I cannot wait to go back up for her newborn session in a few weeks!! So many thanks to Julie, Jeff, Erica and little C for such a fun session!
The Monday before Thanksgiving, I got word that one of my expectant moms in Erie had her baby!! I was heading back home for dinner with my family in North East, so we set up to shoot on Black Friday. Little Raylan was a bit fussy when I got there, so his mommy Donna took a few minutes to feed/ top off the tank and soothe. I have no problem photographing an awake newborn, but a crying or uncomfortable one is a different story. I schedule 2 hours for a newborn session, but can take up to four if need be. This was going to be a session where the baby is posed which can take a longer time, but once he settled, we were good to go! His aunt made him the little turkey hat– so cute!
I got a good number of photos…
… before he woke up again! Babies man, unpredictable. I got to give him some cuddles and snuggle him down again. He was sleepy but not asleep; I got this super cute yawn and oh mah geez, love it
Thank you, Donna for the morning of sweet baby snuggles ::puffy heart::
